Linn County Sheriff’s Office
Courthouse Security
The Sheriff provides for the safety and security of the occupants and visitors in the Courthouse and adjacent areas. The deputies are called upon to handle a multitude of situations including providing security inside of the courtrooms, taking sentenced prisoners or persons with outstanding warrants into custody and coordinating with the Corrections Division for their transport to jail, testing the blood alcohol content of certain defendants at the Judge’s request, responding to alarms throughout the courthouse, investigating crimes that occur in and around the courthouse, responding to medical emergencies, defusing public disturbances, and answer questions from the general public.
In 2006, 343 persons were taken into custody upon order of the court after sentencing and another 86 persons were arrested on outstanding warrants.
