CORRECTIONS DIVISION: Release and Acceptance of Property

Any property brought with the inmate when being lodged in the Jail will remain in the Jail property room until the inmate's release. There are only three exceptions:
1: The inmate may release keys and money
2: If the inmate is being transported to another county, the inmate may release property (property that will not fit in a standard, brown grocery sack). Excess property WILL NOT be sent with the inmate, and we do not store it.
3: Should the inmate be sentenced to the Department of Corrections, the inmate is required to release all of their property. DOC will only send the inmate's property to their home address at the inmate's expense.
There are a few items that the Jail will accept. They are:
1: Money (cash only, no checks)
2: Clothing for inmates with a jury trial scheduled
3: Shoes for inmates assigned to work quarters (No steel/metal toes)

Books will not be accepted for individuals. This includes puzzle books of any kind.

Any person wishing to donate books to the jail can do so in the following manner:

1: Books can be brought to Browser's Books at one of the two following locations:
- 1425 SE Pacific Albany, OR
- 121 NW 4th Corvallis, OR

2: Books will be accepted or denied based on the policy of Browser's books. There will be no exceptions made. Any books not accepted need to leave with the person wishing to make the donation.

3: All books accepted will go on the shelves at the book store. The donated books will not be put aside for the jail to pick up.

4: Persons donating books need to state that the credit from the books should go to the Linn County Jail account.

5: At random times through the month the designated jail personnel will use the credit at the book store and choose books for the jail library from Browsers.
