Delevan S. "Vanie" Smith
was re-elected Sheriff in June 1906. Smith served previously
as Sheriff of Linn County from 1886-1888. (Refer to his interim
from 1886-1888 for history information) He was a deputy for
Sheriff
John Smallman and Sheriff
O. Madison "Mat" Scott for one year and then two
years for
Sheriff C. C. Jackson prior to being re-elected as Sheriff
himself. Sheriff Smith served for a total of eight years (1886-1888
and 1906-1912). Smith passed away on May 27, 1945. |
