George Kenneth Miller was elected
Sheriff in November 1952, taking office on January 1, 1953.
Miller was born May 6, 1912 near Turner, Oregon, being the son
of native Oregonians. Miller was a Deputy under Sheriff
Southard for seven and a half years prior to being elected
to office. He went on to win the election of Sheriff for four
more terms. Sheriff Miller served for 20 years. Miller went
on to be elected to the Linn County Board of Commissioners in
1973. Upon retiring in 1976 from County Service, Sheriff Miller
continued living in the Albany area. Miller passed away in October
4, 1994. He was laid to rest in the Miller Cemetery, Scio Oregon. |
