Herbert Shelton was elected Sheriff
in November 1928, taking office on January 7, 1929. Shelton
was born near Scio and followed the businesses of farming, logging,
and at one time operated a meat market in Scio. He went on to
win the election of Sheriff for three more terms. Sheriff Shelton
served for 16 years. He passed away in the Fall of 1945. |
