Obediah Waddle "Wad"
Richardson was elected Sheriff in 1864. Richardson was born
in 1831 in Adams County, Illinois. In 1849 he headed to California
with the gold rush. The rest of his family moved to a donation
land claim in 1852 in a small canyon between Rogers Mountain
and Franklin Butte, about three miles east of Scio, Oregon.
This area became known as "Richardsons Gap". In 1858
Richardson came to Oregon. While he was Sheriff, Richardson's
living quarters were located at the jail, and it was here that
his first child was born. Sheriff Richardson served for two
years. Richardson passed away in 1910 in Wasco County, Oregon.
He was laid to rest in Sunrise Cemetery, Sherman County Oregon. |
