Child safety
seats (Infants up to one year old and under 20 pounds) |
|
| |
| |
|
|
|
| |
All infants from birth
until at least one year and 20 pounds
should be placed in a rear facing child safety seat.
"One year and 20 pounds" means that if the
child is 14 months old, but only weights 18 pounds,
than the child should still be facing the rear. This
also means that if the child is 8 months and 22 pounds,
than the child should still be facing the rear. Only
when the child is over one year old and is over 20 pounds,
can you safely secure the child in a front facing child
safety seat. |

Notable:
Traffic crashes are the number one cause of death and
injury for children after the first year of life. Each
year, 1,700 children die, and almost 300,000 are injured
in motor vehicle crashes. Six out of ten children killed
in crashed are unrestrained. PLEASE take every measure
to keep your little ones safe! |
