The Critical Incident
Response Team (CIRT) is a special response unit consisting
of a maximum of twelve specially trained Corrections Deputies.
The mission of CIRT is to ensure the safety and security of
the facility during high-risk situations that cannot be handled
safely by staff on-hand. The CIRT team has been trained in
a variety of tactics that include: the use of less lethal
munitions, high risk cell extractions, room clearing techniques,
and riot suppression. When needed, CIRT can respond to critical
incidents within the facility and safely bring the situation
under control.

Prospective CIRT members
must be a member of the Corrections Division, and have completed
their probationary period. Applicants will be chosen based on
the following criteria: |

|
- Time in service of the applicant |
|
| |
|
- Satisfactory job performance in
current and past assignments |
|
| |
|
- Satisfactory physical fitness level
(must pass the Army physical readiness test at an acceptable
percentage) |
|
| |
|
- Review of recent firearms qualification
proficiency records |
|
| |
|
- Oral interview |
|
|
|
| |
