Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan is pleased to report that William Tyrrell has been found alive and safe. The investigation has revealed that Mr. Tyrrell wandered away from the Marks Ridge Road area of Sweet Home, and walked to Lebanon. From there, a good samaritan gave Mr. Tyrrell bus fare to the Eugene area, where he then walked to Junction City. A second good samaritan gave Mr. Tyrrell a ride to his family’s house in Cottage Grove. In partnership with Cottage Grove Police Department, Mr. Tyrrell was confirmed home and safe.

William Tyrrell MP Flier Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on April 17, at 10:13 a.m., Linn County Dispatch received a report of a male missing from the 4100 block of Marks Ridge Road near Sweet Home. William Tyrrell, 63, of Colorado, was visiting family in the area when his wife called to report him missing.

Deputies immediately responded to the area and spoke with multiple people. Deputies learned Tyrrell was last seen at the residence on Friday, April 15. Information suggested Tyrrell may have walked away from the residence or found a ride out of the area. Deputies looked throughout the night for Tyrrell and continue to reach out to people for information. Deputies learned an unknown witness saw a male walking the area of Marks Ridge near the time Tyrrell went missing. The witness was never identified and deputies were unable to verify if the male seen was Tyrell.

Linn County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue continue efforts to locate Tyrrell with a focus on the area of Marks Ridge and the residence where he was last seen.  These efforts include people searching on foot, in vehicles, with a k9 and the use of drones for some public areas. Over 20 searchers were in the area yesterday and 16 continue to work on the case today.
