Linn County Sheriff Bruce Riley reports today at 8:04 a.m., 911 dispatchers received a cell phone call from a male hunter. The male told dispatchers he was hunting in the area of Green Peter Dam near the M& M Mainline, east of Sweet Home, when he accidentally discharged his firearm inside the vehicle hitting multiple juvenile victims. The victims were transported by private vehicle to Hwy 20 and Quartzville Road, where they met Sweet Home Fire Department Medics. The victims were transported by ambulance to area hospitals. One juvenile was then transferred by air ambulance to a Portland area hospital with a serious leg injury.
Deputies are currently investigating the incident. We will release further information as it becomes available.
