Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports that on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at 3:42 p.m., deputies investigated a fatal single vehicle crash on Ede Road near Lacomb. The driver and single occupant of the 1995 Toyota Forerunner was identified as Vern Lee Clark, 36, of Lebanon.
The investigation determined Clark was traveling north on Ede Road and lost control while trying to negotiate a corner. The vehicle rolled multiple times crushing the roof in and sheering off the left rear wheel before coming to rest in the eastbound lane of travel. Excessive speed and failure to wear his seatbelt contributed to the cause of the crash and the death of Clark. At this time it is unknown if Clark was driving under the influence.
The Linn County Deputies were assisted by the Lebanon Fire Department EMT’s, the Linn County Medical Examiner and Huston Jost Funeral Home.
