Linn County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center has received several calls from citizens saying someone called them saying they were Sheriff Jim Yon and wanted, or had information about their social security number. This is a scam. No representative from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office will be calling you with any threats, requests for money or personal information. Please hang up on anyone calling asking for this information. If you are unsure if the phone call is indeed coming from a member of the Sheriff’s Office, please call (541) 967-3950 to verify if we were trying to contact you. Do not give any personal information to anyone over the phone without verification of who they are and their legitimate need for the information.
