Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports today, Kris Fiala appeared for a plea and sentencing hearing regarding the murder of his mother, Gladys Fiala.  Kris Fiala pled guilty to Murder, in the Second Degree, for his mother’s death and no contest to Aggravated Harassment for spitting blood in the face of the responding deputy.  Fiala was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole for the Murder, in the Second Degree, conviction and 30 months for the Aggravated Harassment conviction.  The sentences will run consecutively.

Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports on Tuesday, December 1,2020 at 10:04 p.m., Linn County dispatch received a 911 hang-up call from a residence on Old Mill Road outside Lebanon.  When dispatch called the number back, a male answered the phone and a person could be heard in the background yelling for help.

Deputies responded to the location and contacted Kris Fiala, 54, who had a knife in his hand.  Deputies detained Kris, who spit blood in a deputy’s face.  Deputies found Kris Fiala’s mother, Gladys Fiala, 85, deceased.  Kris Fiala was transported to the Linn County Jail and charged with Murder in the Second Degree and Aggravated Harassment.
