Linn County Undersheriff Michelle Duncan reports the National Association of State 911 Administrators (NASNA) issued a warning for consumers with older phones or devices using 3G networks. NASNA stated it is vitally important the public is aware that national 3G networks will no longer work sometime early next year.

Most users with devices supported by 3G networks will be notified by the carrier if the discontinuation affects them. The nations three major carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon) have each announced plans on discontinuing the 3G service. Additional information and timelines can be reviewed at the Federal Communications Commission website (https://www.fcc.gov).
