Lookout Fire Update: August 30, 2023, 11:30 a.m.
LOOKOUT FIRE CAUSES CLOSURE OF HIGHWAY 126
The Lookout, Horse Creek, and Pothole Fires 2023 burning in both Lane County and Linn County jumped over Highway 126 in Lane County this morning. While the main fire is still burning on the west side of Highway 126, a small spot fire has started burning on the east side, near the intersection with National Forest Service Road 2653 (in the vicinity of Frissell Creek Footbridges).
The Oregon Department of Transportation has shut down Highway 126 at the junction with Highway 20 in Linn County, and at the intersection with Highway 242 in Lane County. This closure will remain in effect until fire conditions change. Travelers are advised to check www.TripCheck.com for the latest in roadway information.
Clear Lake Resort in Linn County remains OPEN to those with camping reservations. Any persons with reservations will be able to access Clear Lake Resort at the Highway 126/Highway 20 ODOT closure barricades between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. daily. Also, Linn County Parks staff are calling all parties with reservations to advise them of the change, and establish alternate check-in times if needed.
All previous closures, evacuation alerts, and preparedness areas REMAIN IN EFFECT.
