Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports that on Friday, September 11th, 2026, deputies arrested a suspect connected to a crime spree in Millersburg where multiple vehicles were entered or stolen.
Millersburg residents were hit by a wave of overnight vehicle break-ins between August 20th and September 10th. Deputies responded to and investigated five vehicles broken into with items stolen, a burglary at a local business, the theft of gasoline from two farms, and two stolen vehicles that were later recovered.
Deputies continued to pursue information and build cases while trying to identify a suspect. With the help of the victims and a lot of hard work, deputies identified Austin Kleinberg, 27-years-old, of Salem, as the suspect, and concentrated their efforts on locating Kleinberg who was believed to be in the Salem area. On Friday, September 11th, 2026, deputies tracked down and arrested Kleinberg and transported him to the Linn County Jail. Deputies continue to work on these cases and as of September 14th, Kleinberg has been charged with 19 counts, including Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Theft in the First and Second Degree, Identity Theft, Unlawful Entry into a Motor Vehicle, and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
