Sheriff Bruce Riley would like to warn citizens of a scam. Sheriff Riley himself just received two of these check scams addressed in a “priority mail” envelope.
At this time, we know of two business names involved in the scams; Multi Aquaculture Systems, INC. from New York and Euroshine Cleaning, INC. from California. We checked with one of the companies who advised there is a scam involving checks with their company name being sent to people, and they have reported this scam to their local law enforcement.
Sheriff Riley is asking the public not to fall prey to these types of scams. If you fall victim to one of these scams and have been defrauded of money or personal information, please call your local law enforcement agency and report it immediately. If you suspect a scam and have not been defrauded, we recommend reporting this activity directly to the United States Department of Justice at www.justice.gov/criminal/fraud/contact/report-fraud.html
