With amazing teamwork, planning, and communication, we are pleased to announce that the subject has been located safe and in good condition. The Search and Rescue Team that found him also had the benefit of having a doctor and nurse within their searchers, who were immediately able to assess his condition. The Search operation could not have been successful today without the assistance of our Linn County Amateur Radio Team, who provide critical radio-relay support to our field teams, and SAR Base of Operations. Thank you to all those who participated today.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office is beginning their third operational period of a Search and Rescue Mission for a missing hiker near Ann Lake, off the Marion Lake Trailhead. More than 60 searchers, along with track and trail dog teams, from Search and Rescue Teams from Linn County, Benton County, Lane County, Marion County and Deschutes County are participating. Air assets from the Oregon National Guard, as well as a flight team from Benton County Sheriff’s Office, with their small Unmanned Aircraft System, and riders from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Posse, have also provided assistance.
Updates will be posted as news develops.
