Linn County Sheriff Michelle Duncan reports on September 9, 2023, at 2:14am., her deputies were dispatched to a disturbance at 815 SW Linn Blvd in Mill City, Oregon. The caller reported two males left the location following a disturbance at the Trio Tavern. The males were reported to brandish guns, firing several rounds in the air as they left the location.
Deputies responded and learned two males had caused a disturbance at the location to include provoking a fight with another male in the bar. The two suspects were told to leave the location, which they did, and fired multiple rounds in the air as they were leaving. Deputies were able to locate multiple spent 5.56 rifle casings on the roadway.
Deputies obtained enough information from witnesses to track down Trenton Stafford, 31, and Michael Baney, 26, both from Mill City. During their contact with Stafford and Baney, Deputies seized a short-barreled rifle and a revolver.
Stafford and Baney were arrested and transported to the jail. Stafford was lodged for Assault IV, Disorderly Conduct II, and Criminal Mischief III. Baney was lodged for Unlawful use of a Weapon, Recklessly Endangering, Disorderly Conduct II, and Unlawful possession of short-barreled rifle.
